History:
ICI Weston Point Power Station. This CHP (combined heat and power station) was originally built around 1920. It supplies the large chemical works within Weston Point, Runcorn.
Originally constructed by Imperial Chemical Industries (ICI) to meet the energy demands of its chemical manufacturing operations, the power station played a crucial role in supporting industrial growth in the region. Over the years, it underwent several upgrades and expansions, incorporating more efficient and environmentally friendly technologies. However, as the energy landscape evolved, the station transitioned from coal and oil-fired generation to cleaner natural gas and eventually closed in the early 2000s.
